It is the first building on the left after the crossing between Corso Italia and Via Bicchieraia.
It was destroyed by a bomb that also damaged the
nearby
Palazzo della Zecca, also called Palazzo del
Capitano. The building had a tower which can nowadays be
partly seen from Via Bicchieraia.
The bombs did not destroy the big fountain you find there instead. This fountain, which is called Fonte del Canale (Canal Fountain), was built in the late Renaissance period but not right in this place. It was in fact in the middle of the street past the Pieve where a natural spring was. It was at the end of the XVIIIth century that the fountain was moved and was leant against the Palazzo Burali.
